The Lawyer’s Mind™ Course
The Lawyer’s Mind™ Course is a neuroscience-based professional development program created specifically for the legal profession. Developed by former workplace relations and safety lawyer and Vedic Meditation teacher Kate Cliff, the program responds to the growing psychological demands of modern legal practice and the increasing focus on psychosocial hazards in Australian workplaces.
Combining evidence-informed education on stress, cognitive performance and nervous system regulation with practical training in Vedic Meditation, participants develop lifelong skills to enhance mental clarity, improve decision-making under pressure and support sustainable professional performance. Designed for law firms, barristers, in-house counsel and legal teams, The Lawyer’s Mind™ Course delivers practical, measurable strategies that strengthen both individual wellbeing and organisational capability.
Having practised as a workplace relations and safety lawyer before spending more than 14 years teaching Vedic Meditation, Kate brings a unique understanding of both the legal profession and the science of sustainable performance. She understands the realities of long hours, high cognitive demand, ethical decision-making under pressure and the increasing obligations surrounding psychosocial hazards.
Through The Lawyer’s Mind™ Course, Kate combines her legal background with neuroscience, nervous system regulation and Vedic Meditation to equip legal professionals with practical, lifelong skills that support clearer thinking, better decision-making, improved wellbeing and long-term career sustainability.

The Lawyers Mind™ Retreats
The Lawyers Mind™ Retreats are Australia’s first immersive professional development retreat designed for lawyers, barristers and in-house counsel. Created by former workplace relations and safety lawyer and Vedic Meditation teacher Kate Cliff, this four-day experience combines Continuing Professional Development with evidence-informed education on stress, cognitive performance and nervous system regulation, alongside Vedic Meditation, breathwork, yoga, Ayurveda and deep restorative practices.
Set on 170 acres in the Byron Bay hinterland, the retreat offers legal professionals the rare opportunity to step away from the pressures of practice, restore their nervous system and return with greater clarity, focus and sustainable strategies for long-term professional success. Eligible participants may claim up to four CPD points through the retreat’s structured educational sessions (excluding Western Australia, where different requirements apply).
Having experienced the demands of legal practice firsthand, Kate understands that exceptional lawyers require more than technical expertise to sustain long and successful careers. The ability to think clearly under pressure, regulate stress, make sound decisions and maintain professional capacity is now recognised as fundamental to modern legal practice.
The Lawyers Mind™ Retreats bring together Kate’s background in workplace law, neuroscience, psychosocial risk, Vedic Meditation and integrative health to deliver an experience unlike any other in Australia. Participants leave not only deeply rested and rejuvenated, but equipped with practical, lifelong tools that enhance professional performance, support psychological wellbeing and strengthen their capacity to thrive throughout their legal careers.

What Lawyers Say
“I’ve maintained a regular meditation practice for several years now having learnt with Kate. As
lawyers, we value sharp minds. We prize clarity of thought. We operate in high-performance
environments. Meditation is a structured, deliberate practice that improves mental clarity. It’s
well-documented as a tool for managing stress and supporting mental health. In many ways, it does
for the mind what exercise and nutrition do for the body. I now see my practice as foundational to
how I perform at work.”
— Kate Minogue, Lawyer
“Learning to meditate has significantly affected how I live my day-to-day life. I notice better sleep,
less anxiety, being calm in situations that used to affect me, interacting with difficult people with
ease, and being able to trust my intuition more. This has been the most effective tool I have found
to manage stress and significantly reduced my anxiety.”
— Kristen Wall, Lawyer
“Learning Vedic Meditation with Kate Cliff has been a game changer for me professionally and
personally; it has provided me with a tool and resource to be more engaged, productive and
involved in all aspects of my life. Kate thoroughly explains the rationale behind the practice and the
science, and ensures participants leave the course well-equipped to apply the skill to all
circumstances. I would certainly recommend Kate Cliff’s meditation course to any professional who
desires to advance their productivity, innovative ability and constructive insight, both personally and
professionally.”
